A stay-at-home dad's parenting musings on Post-it Notes are becoming popular on the internet. Chris Illuminati writes down his observations on raising kids on those colorful sticky pads so he could share this with his wife, Libby Illuminati.
People, however, noticed Chris's parenting musings on Post-it Notes when he started sharing these on his blog, Message with a Bottle. Pretty soon, the stay-at-home dad amassed a following, including on Instagram, and it's mostly from parents who could relate to his fatherhood journey.
At first, the Post-it Notes were for reminders. His wife suggested he should do this so he won't forget what he's supposed to do. Chris developed a system with the sticky pads as he started working from home to manage his tasks, which included looking after his children.
Chris and Libby made a choice not to send their kids, 7-year-old Evan and 4-year-old Lila, to daycare to save on expenses. Eventually, the notes served another purpose as Chris started writing anecdotes so his wife was aware of how his day with the kids went.
"As a joke (because I've never taken anything in life seriously), I wrote down even the simplest of tasks and pinned it to my bulletin board," the dad said, as per Women's Day. "I forgot all about the note. I also forgot to change the baby." Check out some of his most amusing thoughts on parenting below.
From a simple parenting blog established seven years ago, Chris' parenting musings grew into a community, which he also called Message with a Bottle. In it, community members submitted their own Post-it Notes to share to other parents.
"We tend to forget as parents that we're going through something at the moment that 5 million other parents did too," Chris said, as per ABC News. "It's kind of like we all share in each other's pain, misery, joy - there's just a familiarity to it."
