Gisele Bundchen's strict diet is a well-known fact. The supermodel mom mostly eats plant-based food and she encourages the same habits for her two kids, Vivian, 4, and Benjamin, 7, with NFL quarterback Tom Brady.
Bundchen often detailed what her family eats in interviews to promote a healthy lifestyle. She, however, recently shared there's another reason why she's choosing a plant-based diet apart from health reasons.
"It's not only good for our health and makes us feel good, but it is also good for the planet!" Bundchen shared, as per People. An environmentalist friend, Paul Hawkins, influenced her choice when he told her going plant-based helps reduce an individual's carbon footprint which has an effect global warming.
The Bundchen-Brady household keeps a garden at home where they get their food supply. The parents also involve their kids in the planning, planting and harvesting process.
Bundchen said this is also a good way for her children to learn to love nature. Spending time in the garden or outdoors also lessens the children's propensity for screen time and they make gardening a family activity as well.
The family also gets help from private chef Allen Campbell who whips up their restrictive but healthy and delicious meals. "So, 80 percent of what they eat is vegetables," Campbell confirmed, as per AOL. When the family has to eat meat they prefer lean cuts or grass-fed organic beef.
Brady, however, has a more restrictive diet as he doesn't eat tomatoes, eggplants, mushrooms or peppers, which are otherwise categorized as nightshades that do not help with inflammation. The pro-football star needs to keep his body in top form so he has to eat anti-inflammatory foods.
The parents also avoid giving their kids white sugar and dairy. Once in a while, however, Bundchen indulges her kids with ice cream treats, as Daily Mail reported.
