Miguel Cotto Next Fight: Roach Opens Camp For Cotto Vs Alvarez, 'I Am Prepared To Lock In This Victory' Says Miguel

WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto officially starts his training camp under coach Freddie Roach, in preparation for his bout with Canelo Alvarez.

Cotto, who is the current World Boxing Council Middleweight champion, is preparing for the highly-anticipated title fight against fellow superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on Nov. 21. Under coach Freddie Roach, Cotto is officially undergoing training camp.

"I am more than ready to get to work and am fully confident that the plan Freddie Roach has in place for our team is going to ensure that I am prepared to lock in this victory on Nov. 21," said Cotto as per SB Nation's Bad Left Hook. Cotto is reportedly working with Roach for the fourth consecutive fight.

Coach Roach said that he is happy to have Cotto undergo the training camp. According to the boxing news outlet, he has made repeated statements that he is confident as Canelo doesn't do anything better than Cotto inside the boxing ring. Roach also said that Cotto's work ethic is something that should give him success in the upcoming showdown.

"The energy at Wild Card is at an all-time high. Miguel is one of the hardest working men I know and he did not waste any time getting into the ring with me," said Roach, who is a Hall of Famer and seven-time trainer of the year. "I know that we have the tools we need for a successful training camp that will put Miguel in the best position possible to beat Canelo."

Boxing News Online reports that for boxing fans, the upcoming title fight between Puerto Rican Cotto and Mexican Alvarez comes second only to the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao. The earlier fight disappointed many fans, which makes the upcoming one very important.

This setting-up of two high-magnitude fights in one calendar year, according to the boxing news outlet, shows that promoters are at last realising that they should put more priority in giving fans the fist fight that they want, instead of setting up easy fights.

Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya said via the Los Angeles Daily News that in the Floyd-Manny fight, "millions of people were disappointed." However, De La Hoya guarantees "that nobody will be disappointed" in this upcoming slugfest.

BoxRec reports that the Cotto, a 34-year-old Puerto Rican, has a record of 44 wins (with 33 KOs), four losses (with two KOs) and zero draws. Meanwhile, Canelo Alvarez  is a former WBC and WBA Super Welterweight World Champion, owning a record of 45 wins (with 32 KOs), one loss and one draw.

The Cotto-Alvarez title fight will be held Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
