Angelina Jolie Kids News: Celeb Mom Loves Being 40, Talks Menopause, 'I Don't Want to Be Young Again'

For some women, menopause is one of the times that they dread in their lives, but not for celebrity mom Angelina Jolie. The 40-year-old mom, despite her private marriage and family life with husband Brad Pitt, opens up to The Daily Telegraph about how she has coped up with life's challenges.

It's been a big year for the "By the Sea" director and actress as she just turned 40 last June and underwent a surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes last March to avoid a possible breast cancer diagnosis, per E! Online. It can be remembered that in 2013, the actress also had a preventative double mastectomy after a blood test showed that she had an 87 percent risk of developing breast cancer after her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died in 2007 of the same disease, The Daily Telegraph notes.

However, these physical changes during her menopausal stage do not give a negative effect on the actress. “I actually love being in menopause,” Jolie revealed.

“I haven’t had a terrible reaction to it, so I’m very fortunate. I feel older, and I feel settled being older. I feel happy that I’ve grown up. I don’t want to be young again," the mother of six continued.

In "By the Sea," her latest directorial project with husband Pitt, Jolie shared that her mother's death inspired her to do such film. It's the actress way of dealing with her own loss and "questioning how we move on when our body has failed us." Rapid News Network notes that the film centers about a couple who has lost spark in their marriage, showing how they grow apart and throw their frustrations at each other.

But unlike the characters they portray in the film, Jolie and Pitt's marriage seems to be looking great. Apart from not fearing ageing and menopause, Jolie recently shared to People that she is looking forward to growing old with her husband.

"Brad and I are fortunate because we see the beauty in each other's changes. I'm more interested in his 50-year-old self than his 40 year-old-self. And then you look forward to even more years together," she told the publication.

Jolie also revealed that working again together in "By the Sea" has made their relationship stronger. She tells People, "As much as we can argue and fight, and we all have our challenges, at the end I say, 'My job is to love him."
