Thanksgiving 2015: Got Leftover Turkey? Here's What You Can Do

Eating turkey has always been a thanksgiving tradition, and of course, so is having some leftover turkey. Try putting some creative magic into your leftover bird meat and turn it into new, tasty dishes that you and your family will enjoy.

So are you ready to have fun with your post-thanksgiving meal planning? Here are some things you can do with leftover turkey.

Thanksgiving Leftover Breakfast Sandwiches

This recipe from How Sweet It Is is so easy to do, yet so good to eat.

Get some leftover biscuits or buns, then spread some leftover cranberry sauce on it. Spoon some leftover mashed potatoes, add a small slice of warmed turkey meat, then top with an egg, either poached, fried sunny side-up or scrambled.

It's a bit messy to eat, but will be worth it.

Thanksgiving Pizza

This mouthwatering recipe from The Gunny Sack got some great reviews from people who tasted it. Now, it's your time to try it.

Lightly grease a 9-inch tart or pie pan, then carefully press one puff pastry sheet in. Spread some mashed potatoes on it, then carefully layer the following one at a time: 2 Tbsp gravy, 1/4 cup corn, 1/4 cup green bean casserole, 1/2 cup chopped turkey, 1/2 cup turkey stuffing and 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese.

Bake for 18-20 minutes in an oven, that's preheated to 400 degrees. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup French fried onions and bake for an additional 3-5 minutes.

Garnish with optional basil, thyme or parsley and sprinkle with ground black pepper to taste.

Leftover Stuffing Waffles

This recipe from Just A Taste came in as a result from a little request. Something to do with the stuffing!

Preheat a waffle baker, and lightly grease with cooking spray.

In a large bowl, stir together four cups of leftover stuffing and two large eggs. Carefully stir in ¼ cup chicken broth until thoroughly mixed. Keep adding broth as needed to keep the mixture moist.

Put half of the stuffing mixture into prepared waffle baker. Make sure to spread it thinly and evenly, as the mixture will not spread like regular waffle batters. Close the lid and cook until golden brown, and the egg is thoroughly cooked.

Transfer to a serving plate, then repeat the mixing and baking process with the remaining stuffing. Once cooked, serve the stuffing waffles with warmed leftover gravy or leftover cranberry sauce.

Hopefully, these recipes make your post-thanksgiving dinner another reason to give thanks. Have fun!
