'X-Men: Apocalypse' Trailer & Cast: Here’s How Professor X Will Lose His Hair

For X-Men fans, Charles Xavier has always been the bald professor that leads the X-Men team with his psychic abilities as famously portrayed by Patrick Stewart. However, what makes James McAvoy's version of Professor X is that in "X-Men Apocalypse," he was seen with full hair and not bound in a wheelchair. But in "X-Men: Apocalypse," fans will see the professor going bald, and McAvoy spills the details on how it will happen, ScreenRant reports.

According to the news outlet, McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe was interviewed on "The Graham Norton Show" for their upcoming film "Victor Frankenstein." The two actors have recently gone bald -- Radcliffe for his role as a CIA agent in "Imperium" while McAvoy as Professor X in "X-Men: Apocalypse." When Norton asked McAvoy the reason behind Professor X going bald, McAvoy spills that it’s not just simple patterned baldness, but rather a climactic point in Charles Xavier's character.

"He ends up going through something so horrible and physically painful that he literally half pulls his hair out/half it falls out. Maybe, or maybe not…I just s**t myself because I know Fox Studios who own me might be angry with me for sharing that," the Scottish actor reveals.

Cinema Blend notes that even before Professor X lost his hair, he has already gone through a lot. He was paralyzed when Magneto shot his spine, lost a lot of students to the Vietnam War and had to let go of his powers. Now, Screen Rant speculates that him going bald maybe in connection with Apocalypse, the sequel's big baddie. In the comics, Professor X loses his hair due to his mutant powers, but in "X-Men: Apocalypse," it seems that something much more traumatic will happen.

Apocalypse, as described by the synopsis, is one of the "first and most powerful mutant." Another Cinema Blend article reports that fans got a first look of the villain in the end credits of "X-Men: Days of Future Past," which showed him having the power to control the Great Pyramid in Egypt. Apocalypse, whose given name is En Sabah Nur, meaning "The First One," is said to be the first-ever mutant to exist. He has various powers such as flight, invulnerability, superhuman strength, teleportation and telekinesis. Based on this, Cinema Blend notes that he's basically "invincible," which will give Charles Xavier and the X-Men a really hard time to defeat him.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is slated to be released on May 27, 2016. Meanwhile, check out McAvoy and Radcliffe's interview below.
