Breast augmentation or augmentation mammoplasty is the number one plastic surgery procedure for women, with almost 300,000 procedures performed in 2010. This is for women who want to increase the size of their breasts.

Next on the list is rhinoplasty or nose reshaping, with more than 250,000 operations in 2010. "The motivation for rhinoplasty may be to change the appearance of the nose, its function or both," Mayo Clinic shares.

Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is another popular cosmetic surgery, with over 200,000 operations in 2010. This surgery eliminates droopy and fatty eyelids.

Another popular cosmetic surgery is liposuction, with over 200,000 operations in 2010.  This is ideal for those who want to eliminate excess fat deposits on different parts of their body especially the abdomen.

The fifth on the list is abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, with over 116,000 operations in 2010. This surgery involves reshaping and tightening of the belly.

Mastopexy or breast lift is also a popular cosmetic surgery, with almost 90,000 operations performed in 2010. "During a breast lift, excess skin is removed and breast tissue is reshaped to restore firmness and raise the breasts," Mayo Clinic reports.

Next on the list is Dermabrasion, with almost 70,000 procedures performed in 2010. It involves the elimination of facial lines and facial scars.

The brow lift or the forehead lift is another popular cosmetic surgery with over 42,000 people undergoing the procedure in 2010 -- intended for people with forehead creases and low and sagging brow.

Lastly, otoplasty or ear surgery is also a popular plastic surgery procedure with about 30,000 operations performed in 2010. This is ideal for people who do not like the shape and formation of their ears and for those with birth defects or injuries on their ears.
