Yummy Food For Your Child's Playdate

Being a mother requires you to pull out tricks out of a hat. And being a stage mother and a supermom requires more, especially when you have to bring out your acting chops or crack out the fairy dust.

If you're heading to an impromptu playdate, keeping your little one full and always ready on the go is a must. You have to prepare yummy yet healthy food at all times because let's face it, you can't let your kids keep eating cookies and candies most of the time, right?

Here are three nutritious and delicious food that the kids will love (and maybe you should keep stocked in your pantry).

  • Yogurt is almost as yummy as ice cream, but loads healthier. It has plenty of good bacteria that would keep tummies happy and healthy. Make sure to limit the sugary versions, though. Instead, choose plain non-fat or low-fat yogurt and add honey or fresh fruit. Yum!
  • Hummus is such a favorite for dipping as most kids will eat this if you don't tell them what it's actually made out of (beans!) Serve hummus as a dip with pita chips or baby carrots, or even use it as a healthier alternative to mayonnaise on sandwiches.
  • Mango is rich in vitamin C. This tropical fruit helps keep up kids' immune systems. Buy them fresh and cut them up for a perfectly yummy dessert-like snack, or blend it into a smoothie. Or you can play tricks by molding it on a popsicle for a refreshing taste on hot days.
  • Tofu can be a good treat. You can reinvent it by using it as a base for smoothies and desserts -- quite delicious. Well, here's another trick: you need not to actually tell your kids what their yummy dessert is made of.
  • Sweet potato isloaded with Vitamin A -- keeping eyes healthy. Baked potatoes act as better alternatives than French fries (and they're equally delicious) so it should be a hit. Serve the baked potatoes with cinnamon-sugar and vanilla yogurt, or a drizzle of apple sauce or maple syrup, and you'll have them full and energetic.

These snacks will definitely make other tag you as a supermom. Do you have any other healthy treats the little ones would love for their playdates? Share them here!
