Know What Pregnancy Does To A Woman's Brain

Pregnancy could create a lot of changes to a woman's body, especially to her brain. Oftentimes, pregnant women have a reputation for having an unpleasant behavior towards others, not to mention unreasonable. They could be irrational most of the time and they could have the bratty attitude that everyone hates. But even pregnant women don't want to be like that and it just happens that they seem to have no control over it as well. It is important that you understand what happens to the brain of a woman when they are pregnant.

Proper knowledge on what pregnant women go through mentally would help you understand why they are acting that way. Here are some of the reasons why pregnant women have weird cravings, why they are moody and a bit unreasonable for nine months when they are carrying a child in their womb.

1. Clumsiness: According to a study published by NCBI, 27% of women experience falling at least once while they were pregnant and this is because their center of gravity moves upward as their stomach grows. That center would go back to normal after they have given birth. The neural inputs linked to how they stand up and how they balance themselves are affected and would change during pregnancy. Likewise, this is why they are clumsier than usual that they can't even seem to stand up normally sometimes.

2. Weird Cravings: In an article published by The Independent, they said that it is perfectly normal for women to have weird cravings during pregnancy and mostly because of the raging hormones they are experiencing while at it. Women already experience this even before they get pregnant and it is usually before they get their period (best known as PMS). The cravings just increase and vary when they have a child on the way.

3. Mood Swings: This is another normal behavior for pregnant women and it is because of the increase of the level of estrogen and progesterone in the body.

Now that you know about these, there is no reason to be surprised to see a pregnant woman acting irrationally. It is not that they are crazy, but rather they are just hormonal.
