The Working Parent shared some of the most common pros and cons of having a big family. Examining the different advantages and disadvantages before making a decision is always ideal to avoid regret and disappointments in the future.

The advantages of having a big family:

1. Life seems to be always exciting. One of the advantages of having a big family is the constant excitement that comes with it. Many parents enjoy the experience of always having a new baby in the family as well as the birthday parties and new extra-curricular activities to do together.

2. Children learn to share. Many parents prefer having many kids because of their belief that they will have an easier time knowing how to share. They also believe that the value of teamwork and cooperation are nurtured better when a child has many siblings.

3. Adequate support if the parents pass away. "From the first day of school through teenage romances to parents passing away, siblings can offer each other support," The Working Parent explains. "There's comfort to be found in knowing that you're not alone in the world and that there are people out there who will always have your back and look out for you."

The disadvantages of having a big family:

1. Bigger financial responsibility.

One of the biggest disadvantages of having a big family is the much increased financial demands. A bigger family means bigger expenses for the house, car, tuition fee, medical care, birthday gifts, restaurant bills and many more.

2. More chaotic environment.

The more people there are in the house, the harder it is to keep the environment quiet and peaceful. There will be more noise, more laundry and more toys to store properly.

3. Less time for romance

"The kids are whining, the dog is barking and someone just spilled milk on the rug," Care.com shares. "Scenes like this are playing out in homes all over the country, starring harried, over-worked and intimacy-starved parents who can't seem to find a moment of alone time with each other."
