'Final Fantasy XV' Release Date Revealed? [RUMOR]

Finally, fans can now rejoice as a release date has been given for the much-awaited role-playing game “Final Fantasy XV.” One catch, though, is that this is still a rumor.

The rumored release date comes by online news site Gematsu, who has received word that “FFXV” developer Square Enix is planning to release the highly-anticipated game this coming September 30, both for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. They said that the news comes from three independent sources who all “have knowledge of the matter.”

Fans are advised to take the news with a grain of salt as Square Enix is still to announce an official release date.

The report says that the game company will reveal the date, along with a collection of other game information, this coming March 30 during an event titled “Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV.” The event is set to take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

“Our sources in this case are reliable,” says Gematsu. “However, given the sensitivity of the matter, and that within a company setting anything can change before it is made public, we’re reporting this as a rumor until the release date is officially announced.”

GameSpot noted that September release date will give “FFXV” a push before the annual holiday rush, when big games are usually released. This new release date is in contrast to the earlier suggested summer release that Square Enix considered.

A Long Wait

Fans have been waiting for a long time for the game's release. It was first unveiled in 2006, then titled “Final Fantasy XIII Versus” for the PS3. During the E3 in 2013, it was revealed to be renamed “Final Fantasy XV” and ported to new-generation consoles, although the game's main plot, characters and world remain the same.

Stay tuned for more updates on the game's status and release date.
