People Still Value Kindness; Single Mother Left Astounded By an Act of Kindness at Pizza Hut

Nothing makes one happy more than a kind appreciation and blessing from a complete stranger. In one such incident a single Raleigh mother received a note for her good parenting from an unknown man in Pizza Hut.

The single told ABC11 about the unusual yet happy moment she had at the pizzeria. She wrote that she is going through a rough patch following divorce. She learnt that her 4-year-old daughter is a bully and 6-year-old son is suffering from Asperger's and ADHD.

The troubled family go to a different restaurant every Friday. But, this Friday, she took her children directly from day care to Pizza Hut in Durham. By that time her son's medication wore off.

According to the woman, she noticed a young man seated alone next to her table. Her children made a lot of noise and she apologized to the man for their loud behavior and asked him to forgive them.

He politely replied saying he could relate to her because he had three children. The mother then carried on with their meal and told her children to be in their best behavior.

The man finished his meal and left. After some time, a waitress and manager handed over a note to the mother. They told her the young man paid their bills and presented them a Pizza Hut gift card.

The mother was stunned by the kind act. As she read the three-page letter, she couldn't help but cry. Here is what the young man wrote:

"I do not know your back story, but I have had the privilege of watching you parent your children for the past 30 minutes. I have to say thank you for parenting your children in such a loving manner.

I have watched you teach your children about the importance of respect, education, proper manners, communication, self control, and kindness all while being very patient. I will never cross your path again but am positive that you and your children have amazing futures.

Keep up the good work and when it starts to get tough do not forget that others may be watching and will need the encouragement of seeing a good family being raised. God bless! -Jake"
