Trends in higher education remain a very hot topic. Especially, with the never ending changes in the economy, technology and environment. While the world is changing fast, many experts are spending their time to identify the trends that have a lasting effect on the institution to help you plan your future better.

As the field of higher education is undergoing a never-ending transformation, Parent Herald listed the trends that will heavily influence the 2016 evolution. Here are the trends from the expert analysis:

Overhauling of students' transcript

Goldie Blumenstyk, author of "American Higher Education in Crisis?" revealed in her trends report that there are a lot of campuses overhauling the transcripts of the college students to better reflect what the students have learned from the school. Moreover, the revamp will include listing down what they are qualified to do.

School administrators are mostly political appointees

Blumenstyk's trends report pointed out that they are a lot of school trustees, who were appointed by some politicians. "In some cases they may be representing the political interests of the people who appointed them and maybe not so much the best interests of the university," she explained to her trends report, according to WVTF.

Student's debt is getting worse than better

In an article released by EdSurge, it revealed that loan of the students in the United States already skyrocketed to $1.2 trillion. The debt of the students is not expected to lessen in 2016 as trends report revealed that the students are struggling to pay back, especially with the high-interest rates.

Increasing competition from alternative programs

In recent years, many students have discovered the importance of job training and the skills in the computer field. For this reason, many people enrolled in the coding boot camps.

As a result, many companies are expected to put together competency-based programs to cater the needs of the students, according to Education Dive. Four-year colleges as well are expected to embark to this type of program.

The trends could only mean that few years from now, colleges and universities could become totally unrecognizable. What do you think about the trends in higher education?
