D23 Expo 2017: Disney Announces July Dates of the Fan Event, To Rival San Diego Comic-Con?

Disney announced on Monday that they are going to move the dates of their three-day D23 Expo 2017 on July 14 to July 16 next year. It looks like Disney is going to rival San Diego Comic-Con, which also usually takes place on the same dates.

According to Variety, D23 Expo 2017 will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center. Once again Disney is set to gather everything that is related to Disney in one place. D23 Expo is going to celebrate Disney's business enterprises, from theme parks, television shows, music, gaming and films. D23 Expo also marks the inclusion of Disney properties, like Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel.

D23 Expo will present the Disney Legends Ceremony to honor the men and women who play important role in the success of Disney. D23 Expo, too, will highlight the biennial event with Mousequerade, the costume contest that will showcase the creativity of fans.

Along with the competition, there will be the D23 Expo Emporium, where attendees will have the chance to buy, sell and trade Disney merchandise, collectibles and memorabilia. Lastly, D23 Expo is set to introduce the all-new exhibit composed with Walt Disney Archives.

Meanwhile, Hollywood Reporter shared that San Diego Comic-Con might be held on July 19 to July 23 while the San Diego Convention Center maybe on July 20 to July 24. However, the said dates are all speculations as the exact dates of the said event are not yet officially announced.

Some expect that D23 Expo is going to rival San Diego Comic-Conn as Marvel and Lucas Film is also expected to be in SDCC. To recall, Marvel didn't attend San Diego Comic-Con last year to be launch "Captain America: Civil War" in a Disney event.

Later, Disney also presented the art concept of "Doctor Strange" with a video message of Benedict Cumberbatch that is also expected to be in San Diego Comic-Con. D23 Expo 2017's tickets will be out on July 14, 2016, on D23Expo.com.
