'The Biggest Loser' Faced with Controversy Following Contestant's Dramatic 155-Pound Weight Loss

"The Biggest Loser" is faced with a controversy after contestant Rachel Frederickson’s lost a whopping 155-pound weight loss, which critics claim to be unhealthy and unacceptable, according to the LA Times.

Following a rumpus online, the show's producers and NBC issued a joint statement on Thursday morning that addressed the contestant's controversial weight loss, saying: "We support Rachel and all of the 'Biggest Loser' contestants who have shared their journeys over the past 15 seasons. We remain committed to helping contestants achieve healthy weight loss and live healthier lifestyles, and to inspiring viewers to do the same."

Likely, Rachel's trainer, Dolvett Quince, issued a statement via social media, saying: "Biggest Loser is a journey which has its ups and downs. Please try not to look at one slice of Rachel's journey and come to broad conclusions. Rachel's health is and always has been my main concern and her journey to good health has not yet ended." After Tuesday night's season finale, Rachel, 24, was featured on the show weighing only 105 lbs. She started her journey on the Biggest Loser at 206 lbs and has lost 59.62 percent body fat.

Rachel confirmed that she was able to reach her 155 lb weight loss by following a strict 1,600 calorie-a-day-diet prescribed by the show and worked out "a ton", under the show's supervision. She refused to answer repeated questions about whether she lost too much weight in her quest to win $250,000. Rachel said: "I was very enthusiastic about the finale and I'm really excited about my life here going into maintenance mode. I'm going to try new exercises and continue on this path and see where it takes me - finding that balance."
