Boy without any friends receives millions of birthday wishes on Facebook

A "friendless" boy is set to receive an unexpected gift on his 11th birthday - millions of birthday greetings from strangers on Facebook, Metro West Daily News reports.

When Colin's mom asked him to invite his friends over for a birthday party, Colin replied that he didn't really have any. Colin, who was diagnosed about a year ago with sensory processing disorder, suffers from meltdowns and is sensitive to things such as lights and sounds. As a result, he has been having a difficult time making friends with other children who don't really understand his condition.

"If you can see someone with challenges, like someone with crutches or wheelchair, you know you need to open the door for them. But if someone is acting differently, you may not know they have challenges that you may not understand," the boy's mother, Jennifer Cunningham, said.

To prove her son wrong, Jennifer decided to create a Facebook page to gather support for her son. Sure enough, the page has already reached millions of likes. Jennifer asked his son's online friends to send him birthday wishes and even set up a post office box for those who want to send him birthday cards.

Other than birthday greetings, Colin has also received a thousands of encouraging words and in several different languages.

Brandon Foster, a U.S. Navy Sailor posted on Colin's page, saying: "I would count myself a very blessed person to call you a friend."

Jennifer has confirmed that Colin still has no idea that he now has millions of friends and believes her son will be greatly surprised come his birthday March 9.
