Terminally ill teen donates Make-A-Wish money to local high school

A terminally ill teen suffering from cancer selflessly donated the money Make-A-Wish foundation wanted to give her to support a local high school, Yahoo! News reports.

Jayci Glover, 13, didn't think twice when the organization asked her what she wanted to do with the $7,500 check. Instead of pushing through with a trip to Disney World or the chance to meet her favorite athlete, she simply asked the foundation to buy a new scoreboard for the high school gymnasium in her hometown of Kanab, Utah.

Brendan Jackson, the school's principal, received the check Wednesday before the school's basketball game. At the game, the entire team donned black t-shirts with the statement "Fight Like Jayci" to pay tribute to the girl's charitable deed. As well, each member gave the girl a rose and hugged and kissed her before starting.

After a year of battling a rare form of terminal lymphoma, Glover's family finally decided to bring her home to her hometown in Southern Utah, where she could be with friends and family. Treatments for her condition had kept her 300 miles away in Salt Lake City.

"We came around the turn in Kanab. We saw the whole town there," Jayci's father, Coby Glover, said in an interview.

"I tried to wave and smile, but everyone was crying," Jayci said. "There were a lot of people. It was kind of overwhelming, but really awesome."

Jayci's actions have inspired many beyond her small town, including R&B singer Jordin Sparks, who posted a video on YouTube dedicated to the young teen.
