Apple Campus 2: Drone Shows Spaceship Headquarters Taking Shape And It's A Must-See! [WATCH]

Construction of the Apple Campus 2 in Cupertino, California is progressing and a drone flew over the vicinity recently to take a video of its status. The spaceship-inspired headquarters is projected to have over 13,000 Apple employees working on the site as early as 2017.

The drone video of Apple Campus 2, which was taken and posted by Matthew Roberts, shows construction workers setting up the solar panels that will power the massive facility. It also shows the workers completing the last part of the circle in the spaceship headquarters.

The Amenities Of The Apple Campus 2

Geek Wire reports that an underground auditorium is also part of this phase of construction, along with the section for research and development, and the 100,000-square-foot fitness facility. Fortune reports that when finished, the new Apple headquarters will feature a six-kilometer glass staircase in the main part of the building, while an outdoor park with over 7,000 trees will be nestled among the restaurants and cafes in the inner circle. Departments and offices have been properly segmented and everything should be constructed seamlessly.

Bloomberg reports what when the Apple Campus 2 was in its design stage, Steve Jobs wanted this to be polished perfectly done to the paintbrush strokes. The budget for this structure has been pegged at $5 billion. Unfortunately, Jobs died before the building's groundbreaking.

Other Interesting Facets About Apple Campus 2

The idea for the building's shape was inspired from the London Square, where parks and trees mesh with the houses and buildings beautifully. Because Apple Campus 2 was designed as a green building with renewable energy, it is being built with a natural ventilation system. Thus, use of air conditioning or heating will be cut down to at least a third of the year.

Aside from the biggest fitness center that can service 20,000 employees, jogging and bike paths will be set all around the 176-acre Apple Campus 2 in the final phase of the construction. Parking space for nearly 11,000 vehicles will be found underground as Jobs didn't want vehicles to be visible at the spaceship park.
