Elsa Pataky's pregnant belly mocked by 'Fashion Police'

Elsa Pataky, 37, came under fire by the "Fashion Police" over her Oscars gown.

The actress, who is expecting a child with her husband actor Chris Hemsworth, was ridiculed by Joan Rivers on "The Fashion Police," who said: "I'm sorry, look at her tummy! She is HUGE. I know why she's huge. I saw her sonogram."

After her comment, Ellen DeGeneres' epic group selfie was flashed on the screen, as if insinuating that the woman is pregnant with more than one child.

George Kotsiopoulos striked in too, saying: "The last thing I wanna do is rip a pregnant woman. That doesn't look like a baby bump, it looks like a beer belly."

Guiliana Rancic, the more subtle in the group, chimed in, saying: "I'm not a good friend, because I save this til the end, but she is pregnant with twins."

The comments drew ire from the public, who posted angrily beneath Cosmopolitan's story on the affair.

"I can't stand watching that show because Joan Rivers is so mean," reader Lucy Brady wrote. "She makes HORRENDOUS jokes that are NOT funny. She herself looks like a bad joke. Someone needs to pull the plug and put everyone out of their misery."

Darla Hanger of the Examiner noted that the show's comments indicate an obvious shift from fashion-based criticism to one focused more on the celebrities themselves.

"It is safe to say the 'Fashion Police' are becoming less and less relevant in the fashion world," Hanger wrote. "Especially after comments on Monday night's show. And if there are more signs of this cast being close to hitting the door, it was on Sunday, when fashion cop Kelly Osbourne had to use binoculars above the red carpet because she couldn't be on it. Perhaps there was some concern a real celebrity would tell the cast member off."

Other soon-to-be-moms who were present at the Oscars and who walked the red carpet included Kerry Washington and Olivia Wilde. Washington wore a dress made by Jason Wu and Wilde wore a dress made by Valentino.
