Ryback WWE Contract Dispute: Wrestler Drops Out Of Programming Until Pay Inequality Issue Is Addressed

Wrestling star Ryback was reportedly removed from upcoming televised WWE events due to a pending dispute. He complained about inequality and may be out of the ring until the issue is addressed accordingly.

WWE and Ryback are allegedly discussing a new contract. It is still uncertain whether Ryback himself decided to take some time off or the company took him out of the schedule as soon as the Ryback-WWE dispute arose.

Ryback Off The Schedule Until A New Deal is Struck

Ryback, whose real name is Ryan Reeves, shared some details on Tumblr about his WWE dispute. He stated that he requested to be removed from the WWE televised events until he and WWE head Vince McMahon arrive at an agreement. Ryback wrote that the WWE dispute has been going on since his Intercontinental Championship Title run.

“I was told to head home until we agree or not agree to specific terms and contrary to reports it isn't over money or a bus that stuff was settled a while ago," Ryback wrote. "It comes down to a major problem I have with not only WWE but wrestling in general."

Ryback proceeded to criticize the WWE for his pay structure, citing that the company pays winners more than the losers, wrote Bleacher Report. Considering how entertainment wrestling has pre-determined winners and losers, the setup was unfair.

Ryback questioned why the talents were not paid equally. Winners already have the advantage of having spots in huge pay-per-view matches and heightened popularity.

It becomes more of a problem when the wrestlers who agree to lose are even paid less. The Ryback-WWE dispute also delves on the issue that losing wrestlers constantly worry about making less money and being released over time.

How The WWE May Respond To The Ryback Contract Dispute

Ryback did share that all he wanted to do was to work for WWE. However, it is unlikely that Ryback’s WWE dispute and his sentiments will result to any major adjustments in terms of providing equal pay privileges.

Ryback's recent post also compromises the WWE in certain ways. Considering how RAW ratings have not been doing very well recently, the company may not be too keen on striking a new deal with the Big Guy.

According to DeadSpin, Ryback is actually fine with the idea of remaining a mid-card wrestler and giving way to bigger names in the business. However, the WWE may also dispute that Ryback has not always been good in what he does.

Former Superstar C.M. Punk complained that Ryback was careless in the ring and caused him a lot of injury without even apologizing. He also lacks the personality that bigger stars have, which also contribute much to the company’s huge fan base.
