‘Sex Box' coming to America following success across the pond

"Sex Box," the British TV show in which people have sex behind closed doors only to reemerge and discuss it, is coming to America, according to reports.

The premise behind the show is simple - couples enter a large box while audiences wait for them to have sex. When they come out, they are interviewed by the show's host in an attempt to get an honest take on what went on behind the scenes.

A full episode of the show was published on YouTube.

Average couples - both gay and straight - are introduced before disappearing and then appearing again, at which point they are grilled by three celebrity panelists.

A red light signals that the couple is having sex and a green light flashes when the couple is done. According to Deadline, producers of "Sex Box" believe that the "in the moment experience fosters conversations about intimacy that are completely filterless and emotionally honest."

"Sex Box" will air on WE TV and, according to President Marc Juris, "is an intriguing and original concept from a top production partner" that they're "very excited about," pointing to its success overseas as evidence of its potential to thrive.

In the UK, the show's pilot episode alone garnered approximately 906,000 viewers. The United States release will feature the infamous American sex columnist Dan Savage.

Other than the sex itself, the hosts will ask questions regarding emotional intimacy versus physical intimacy and honesty and openness about sexual fantasies.

One of the couples on the show noted that there are some instances in the box that just don't measure up.

"The best time we had sex was the first time we had sex," they said.
