Melatonin: Studies Reveal Sleep Hormone Can Stimulate Weight Loss, Cure Eczema & GERD

A sleep hormone, melatonin is now being considered as one of the miracles in terms of medical advancement. Melatonin is said to cure eczema, muscle growth, aids in weight loss and enhances sleep.

One of the greatest advantages of melatonin is its capability to cure and ease eczema. It provides a low risk treatment for children which make it safe for use. The researchers discovered that children diagnosed with eczema have low melatonin count on their bodies.

Eczema Linked To Low Melatonin

According to CBS, the study used melatonin to fight eczema among children. It was discovered that children with eczema has poor sleep quality as they would end up scratching their selves in the middle of the night. In addition to the study, it was also mentioned that the low presence of melanin in their bodies can be a contributing factor to their skin conditions.

50 children ages 2 to 18 participated on the study. Children were given melatonin while some were given placebos.

It was revealed that children who were given melatonin fell asleep 21 minutes earlier compared to those that were given the placebo. It was also stated that children who partake melatonin were relieved from eczema.

Melatonin Offers More Benefits

Aside from melatonin's benefits from eczema, it also aids in GERD treatment. As per Seattle Times, melatonin can heal the body, it does not only have anti-inflammatory properties, but it also cured GERD.

Melatonin intake through over the counter supplements may take up to a month to work on the body. It was also stated that melatonin is safe to take with Prilosec.

 Aside from eczema and GERD, Psychology Today noted that melatonin enhances weight loss. It was stated that the individual can increase the melatonin level in his/her body by inducing it through exercise, avoiding nigh time exposure to light and setting up a regular sleep pattern.
