Awake Labs Launches Pilot Product Reveal As A New Way To Understand Autism; New Wearable Technology To Empower People With Autism?

Dealing with people who have been diagnosed with autism is sometimes pretty challenging, especially when determining the factors or triggers that cause their behavioral meltdowns. But thanks to Awake Labs Inc. for creating a new wearable device called Reveal, which is designed to note physiological and contextual hints on behavioral changes.

Understanding Autism

People with autism are often isolated in their own worlds, appearing remote, indifferent and are unable to form emotional bonds with others. In addition, they are also incapable of understanding other people's thoughts, feelings and needs.

For parents or caregivers, however, dealing with the different emotions that come with an autism diagnosis can be exhausting and frustrating, not to mention emotionally draining. That's why, Canada-based Awake Labs Inc. has launched a crowdfunding campaign for their pilot product, Reveal.

What Is Reveal?

Based on Awake Labs' Indiegogo campaign, Reveal is a wearable band that can provide a quantified measure of anxiety by tracking the real-time physiological signals of people with autism. By noting the physiological and contextual cues of anxiety, Reveal will eliminate the uncertainties and help parents and caregivers to better understand and predict behavior meltdowns.

Reveal will also enable parents and caregivers to intervene at the right time of a behavior meltdown by receiving a notification through a smartphone app. As for its design, Awake Labs spoke to hundreds of parents, caregivers and care experts to ensure the device's durability and security as well as its comfortable design for users.

Reveal's sensors are also designed by top notch physiological measurement experts. As for its other features, Reveal has a smooth surface, adjustable clasp and comfortable strap that are made with durable materials.

How Reveal Empowers People With Autism

With Reveal, Awake Labs Inc. aims to empower people living with autism to understand their behavioral and emotional changes. The company's new wearable technological device can also help parents and caregivers understand when a rise in anxiety may trigger a behavioral meltdown.

"We're building Reveal, a wearable band that measures and tracks physiological signals in real time, empowering people living with autism, their parents, and their caregivers to understand changes in behavior and emotion," Awake Labs Inc. community developer Katie Verigin said in an e-mail.
