YouTube Star Christina Grimmie (zeldaxlove64) Shot Dead After Concert in Florida

Christina Grimmie, also known as zeldaxlove64, got her start as a musician on the video-sharing site YouTube, where she quickly gained a sizeable following. Since then she has appeared on the singing reality competition the voice and has toured all around the world.

However, shocking news has recently surface regarding the talented singer, saying that she has been fatally shot following a concert in Florida. Grimmie along with the band Against the Current were selling merchandise and signing autographs when an unidentified assailant approached Grimmie and shot her.

Unfortunately, Grimmie succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Saturday, June 11, 2016. This news came as a shock to a lot of people considering that the singer was only 22 years of age. The assailant's motives as to why he shot Grimmie is still unclear to this point. 

Reports state that the gunman was carrying two armed weapons when he shot Grimmie, but the singer's brother immediately tackled the suspect after the shooting and has been hailed as a hero by officials. This is because he prevented even more people from getting hurt. CNN reports that how the attacker got into the venue carrying weapons is still unkown.

The gunman then shot himself, dying on the spot. Grimmie was rushed to the hospital and when news broke of the incident, her fans immediately sent prayers and well wishes on social media.

 A representative for Grimmie came out with a statement saying, "It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord. She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn't survive the gun shot wounds."

Her representative then went on to say, "we ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning.
