The hype for a "Gambit" movie is back. "Gambit" will get a crack at the big screen. The movie will begin a stand-alone franchise with the "22 Jump Street" star.

'Gambit' Movie Filming Date Announced

It is confirmed that the "Gambit" movie will make its way to the big screen. The announcement came from screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg.

In an interview with The Hashtag Show (via Comic Book), Kinberg was asked about the status of the "Gambit" movie, he said that it isn't as far away from filming as some previously thought.

The writer-producer hinted about Fox's next X-Men schedule and talks about the current plan to start shooting the oft-delayed "Gambit" movie. He revealed the new filming date to be at the beginning of Spring 2017.

Channing Tatum Out Of 'Gambit' Movie?

Earlier reports say that Channing Tatum may drop out of the X-Men spinoff "Gambit" due to failed deal with 20th Century Fox. These reports may surprise the fans of Channing Tatum who are excited to see the actor play the eponymous X-Men character.

Despite reports that Channing Tatum was wanting to leave the "Gambit" movie, THR verifies that the "22 Jump Street"  has made a successful deal with 20th Century Fox's to star in the "Gambit" movie.

The Setbacks That Hit 'Gambit' Production

Channing Tatum's "Gambit" movie was supposed to be released this October.  However, the movie was pushed back and set a March filming due to film director change.  

Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) was supposed to direct the film but left the project due to creative conflict. Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) took over the directing project. Again, the filming date of "Gambit" movie was pushed back as Kinberg want to make sure they get it right before starting production.

Kinberg affirms that "Gambit" is still on target and is now aiming to start filming in Spring of 2017. Fingers crossed that it doesn't go through any more delays.
