Pokemon GO News & Update: Weirdest Stories So Far On Niantic Game? Did You Hear That One About The Cheating Boyfriend And More

Nintendo and Niantic Lab collaboration Pokemon GO has been by far the most phenomenal game release this 2016, mobile or otherwise. Already after a few days (and only available in a handful of countries) Pokemon GO has been installed on over 5% of Android devices in the US.

With the release of Nintendo's augmented reality game (which has boosted the company's share value by 50%) came many bizarre stories. Here are interesting, sometimes bizarre, Pokemon GO stories so far.

The One at the Hospital

A hospital in the Netherlands has asked Pokemon catchers to stay away from the hospital's restricted areas, Rappler reports. The hospital confirmed on Twitter that they are indeed taking care of a sick Pokemon, so please don't worry about visiting.

The One About The Cheating Boyfriend

A New York resident discovered that her boyfriend had been picking up Pokemon at his ex-girlfriend's house, New York Post reports. The girlfriend used the historical geo-location feature on Pokemon GO. The Pokemon GO playing boyfriend seems unrepentant.

The One About World War II

Stories of Pokemon GO players stumbling into sensitive areas are nothing new as we have seen. However, due to strong feelings at the Holocaust Museum and Poland's Auschwitz Memorial at Washington DC, the authorities there are attempting to have the location removed from Pokemon GO, according to USA Today.

The One About The 3am Walk

One particularly amusing Pokemon GO story is getting attention on Reddit. It really has to be read in its entirety here. Please beware, coarse language ahead.

The One About The Body In The River

As reported on Parent Herald, the roaming of Pokemon hunters has led to discoveries that they never would have thought could have happened when playing the game on their phone. Shayla Wiggins (19) inadvertently stumbled across a dead body during her Pokemon rounds.

The One About the Armed Robberies:

Missouri Police Officers are warning lone Pokemon GO players that they may be targeted for robbery while playing the game. Enterprising thieves quickly picked up on the geo-location advantage in Pokemon GO.

The One Who Wouldn't Quit

This particular Pokemon hunter should either be commended for his resilience, or be throttled for it. CNET reports that after being stabbed while on Pokemon GO, the persistent player kept playing right on.

Pokemon GO is available in the US, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and the UK on iOS and Android devices. Based on these stories, please make sure you and family are careful and alert if you attempt to play Pokemon GO.
