It is still a long wait before "Scandal" season 6 premieres in mid-2017. However, several reports have already hinted on what fans should expect in the upcoming season of ABC's hit political thriller series.

Prior to the premiere of "Scandal" season 6, several fans certainly got curious after seeing Rowan's (Joe Morton) mischievous smirk during the season 2 finale. In fact, Olivia Pope's (Kerry Washington) dad may be gearing some sort of revenge in the upcoming season after Liv successfully saved her lover Jake (Scoot Foley) from her father.

Rowan's Retaliation Plans In 'Scandal' Season 6?

Most if not "Scandal" fans knew that Liv ousted Rowan in the previous season. But according to Ecumenical News, Rowan will reportedly show Jake "what happens to those who disappoint Command" in "Scandal" season 3?

So, does this mean Rowan is planning a retaliation against his own daughter in "Scandal" season 3? Well, this storyline is not far from impossible but what's really more certain is the father-and-daughter faceoff between Liv and Rowan in the upcoming season of the series, Movie News Guide notes.

Mellie Knows Rowan's Secret Plans In 'Scandal' Season 3?

Another possible storyline hinted by several "Scandal" season 3 spoiler reports was the revelation of Rowan's hidden plans. As a matter of fact, President Fitzgerald Grant's (Tony Goldwyn) ex-wife Mellie (Bellamy Young) reportedly knew Rowan's plans but she was more focused on winning the presidency.

"Mellie knows Rowan as the devil, but on the other hand, she has made a deal with the devil in the past," Young told Variety. "I would wager that being so close [to being President], she'd be able to make peace with it in her mind that if she could just get the office, then she'd have the power and it wouldn't matter how she got there. But as we all know, any dance you do with Papa Pope is rather deathly."

A Potential Love Triangle In 'Scandal' Season 6

In "Scandal" season 6, Fitz will reportedly try his best to win Olivia back. However, actor Scott Foley said that Liv has already chosen Jake, Foley's character in the series. He also stressed the fact that Liv has blatantly chosen Jake when she planned to elope him but of course, Rowan stopped the plan, as Parent Herald previously reported.

"I'm going to be very unpopular in saying this: I think Olivia has chosen Jake," Foley told Entertainment Weekly. "There is no question in my mind that she's chosen Jake."

'Scandal' Season 6 Air Date

As for "Scandal" season 6 air date, the upcoming season is set to premiere midseason 2017 on ABC while filming will commence this July. It will continue to air at 9 p.m. timeslot every Thursdays but this fall, the said timeslot will be occupied by ABC's newest series, "Notorious," which will be airing on Sept. 22.
