Sugar Baby University: College Students Go On Dates With Sugar Daddies In Exchange For Financial Support

College students often feel stressed out because of their financial burdens like living expenses and tuition fees. Seeking Arrangement's Sugar Baby University aims to help these students by setting them up with dates with older men, who in turn will provide them with money that they need.

Seeking Arrangement's Sugar Baby University describes itself as a place where "beautiful, successful people fuel mutually beneficial relationships." It's essentially a dating website but with a twist.

According to Seeking Arrangement's website, there are four sugar babies per sugar daddy. Some of the perks sugar babies receive are financial stability and getting pampered in shopping sprees, travels, and expensive dinners. Sugar Baby University also gives college-aged women a chance to date experienced men "who leave the dating games alone" and mentors who can offer guidance and long-term stability.

Testimonials From Sugar Babies

Sara-Kate Astrove from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, said she met 30 men with ages between 42 and 75 in four years, USA Today reported. According to Astrove, the average sugar daddy she met through Sugar Baby University paid her around $1,000 for a one-time meeting. Sometimes the sugar daddies would set up monthly allowances for her financial needs.

In total, Astrove earned almost $300,000. The money allowed her to pay for her living expenses and to enroll for a master's degree in creative writing at The New School, a private university based in New York City.

Possibly the biggest question about Sugar Baby University's arrangement is whether sex is involved between the men and young women. Astrove said that sex isn't certain, but it's something that all sugar daddies want from the sugar babies eventually.

Astrove said "the sugar baby is really in control" and they should be sure of their boundaries early on in the arrangement. A 2014 documentary titled "Daddies Date Babies" found sugar babies that had sugar daddies with weird fetishes. One young woman even questioned whether her sugar daddy raped her.

Students Selling Sex To Afford School

In the United Kingdom, the National Student Money Survey found that one in 11 students sell sex, gamble, or resort to extreme measures to pay a £250-a-month ($331) average cash shortfall, which covers their tuition fees and living expenses, the Daily Mail reported. Some of these students do escort work, prostitution, gambling, write essays for other students, and sell their underwear online to earn extra money for food, bills, transport, and school supplies.

Aside from these, some students resort to performing sexual or provocative acts in adult webcam shows. Others sell videos of their feet for people who have weird fetishes.
