Celebrity News: Rihanna to Star as Janet Leigh in 'Bates Motel'

RiRi fanatics are in for a treat as Rihanna will be making her television debut. It was recently announced that Rihanna will be taking on the role of a psycho character in "Bates Motel."

Rihanna will be taking on the role of Marion Cane from "Bates Motel." The role was previously played by Janet Leight Hitchcock back in the 1960's horror film "Psycho." Marion Crane was murdered by Norman while she was taking a shower, this being said, Rihanna will be in for a scream feast.

The executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin stated that they wanted to recreate the Marion Cane iconic role as they are up to put a twist to it. One of the things that the producers looked forward to is the fact that Rihanna herself admitted that she's a major fan of the show according to Vanity Fair.

"We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way. We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate."

Entertainment Weekly then added that fans will get to expect a totally different Marion Crane as it was mentioned that her character will not be like the one that Janet Leight Hitchcock portrayed. In fact, the show runners urged Rihanna to be herself in playing the role. Rihanna may have had a few cameos in several movies, but her TV series appearance is definitely a first for her.

"We are going to meet Marion Crane, but what we don't want to do is create the impression that we're redoing the movie because we're not at all. She's a very different person in the movie and her story plays out in a different way."
