'Empire' Season 3 Latest News & Spoilers: Mariah Carey Set To Guest Star; How Will Her Character Be Incorporated In Show?

Mariah Carey is set to guest star for "Empire" Season 3 months after she revealed what it would take for her to be part of the hit series.

FOX announced about the matter on Monday and confirmed that Carey, who has been requested to make an appearance by fans in the past seasons, will be debuting in the October 5 episode of "Empire" Season 3. It is no secret that Carey is a diva and fans will get to see more of her being a mega star on "Empire."

E! News reported that Carey will be taking on the role of Kitty, a mega superstar coming to Empire to collaborate with Jamal Lyon. Kitty and Jamal will be working on a new explosive song. However, it will not be easy for the two singers in "Empire" Season 3 to come up with the song because the duet will be encountering many obstacles. Kitty will be helping Jamal dig deep in order to overcome his personal difficulties so as to reach a musical breakthrough.

Jussie Smollett, the actor playing the role of Jamal, talked about how excited he is to be able to work with Carey if given the chance. In a past interview, Smollett said that he kept on saying he hopes Carey will be guest starring on the show because she is one of the closest friends of the "Empire" co-creator, Lee Daniels. Daniels and Carey worked together in the past for "The Butler" and "Precious," Billboard reported.

Carey talked about possibly guest starring on "Empire" Season 3 during her appearance in "Watch What Happens Live" in May. Carey said that Daniels did talk to her about guest starring but they did not present an "amazing character arc" for her that is why she did not appear on "Empire" Season 1 and 2.

More on Carey, she will be debuting her eight-part docu-series called "Mariah's World" set to premiere on E! this December 4. Even before it has premiered, Carey was at the TCA and she teased that a Season 2 for her docu-series might take place.

Other stars making their way to "Empire" Season 3 are French Montana, Sierra McClain, Birdman, and Taye Diggs.

"Empire" Season 3 will be out this September 21 at 9 P.M. on FOX.
