12 DIY Mother's Day Gift Ideas 2015

Mother's Day isn't coming until the second Sunday of May, so there is still plenty of time to buy her presents at the store. However, a do-it-yourself gift may win more brownie points for creativity and personal approach. Need ideas with these? Here are some suggestions.

1. Prepare a coupon book filled with things she can redeem such as when you have to "Do The Laundry." Add a few perks as well such as breakfast prepared by you, or a free massage. You can get some templates at SkipToMyLou.

2. Offer to teach her something. Is mom not familiar with Instagram? Is she having a hard time navigating her iPhone? Does she need to learn Photoshop? Spend one weekend afternoon with her for a basic orientation.

3. Offer to take household chores or watch over the kids to take some things off her hands. Most moms will appreciate time away from being "mom," even if it's only for a day. Give her the day off!

4. Prepare a brunch feast on Mother's Day. Include her special favorites or introduce her to food you think she will love but have yet to try. How about a brunch basket? The Cooking Channel has some suggestions on what you can put.

5. Organize a spa kit she can use to pamper herself at home at any time. Popsugar has some great ideas for scrubs and creams that are easy to do.

6.  Give her a note jar and promise to fill this up with compliments and sentiments each day. She will love reading these.

7.  Give mom a lovely necklace made with colorful stones or similar materials. How about a striking T-shirt necklace suggested by DIYnCrafts? Pick her favorite colors or use trinkets that represent who she is.

8. Invite her to an afternoon of jam-making. Since jams are readily available at the grocery, it's rare anyone bothers to make these at home. However, it should be a fun thing to do together. Here are some recipes from Hip Paris.

9. Sew her an eye pad or a sleep mask. It's perfect for when she's taking naps. You can get the template from Yoga Hound.

10. Prepare a movie marathon of films of her favorite actor or actress. Don't forget to have her favorite snacks and drinks, too! Give mom the best seat in the house.

11. Create an envelope garland filled with your lovely Mothers' Day messages. Studio DIY has the step-by-step guide on how to do this.

12. Offer to spruce up her closet. She probably has no more time to organize this and she may need an extra hanger for her trinkets such as this driftwood hanger idea from Lovely Indeed.
