Planning Your Next Family Holiday? What Kids Really Want For Their Dream Vacation

It's never too early nor too late to plan your next family holiday. But what's more important in planning this must include what your children might want to have. Are you aware of what comprises a dream vacation for children? A recent survey revealed quite an interesting result.

Jet2Holidays, along with Atomik, conducted a survey among 1,000 children from the ages of 7 to 13. The results showed that for many kids, Spain is a top holiday destination with 25 percent of the respondent choosing this as their dream destination. Italy (13 percent) and France (11 percent) closely followed the list of top vacation places the kids would like to visit. Greece (8 percent) and Portugal (6 percent) rounded up the five slots.

Children enjoy a summer holiday best over a Christmas or Easter holiday because of the time they can spend on the sand and the beach or pool. As for hotel choices, at least 20 percent said it would be cool to stay at a space-themed hotel during the family holiday. However, some 14 percent said they won't mind a zombie-themed hotel as it can be a lot more fun experience. But whatever the hotel choice, 45 percent of the children respondents prefer that this be near a beach.

Families almost always choose to go to theme parks for the holidays and kids don't oppose to this at all. Of the respondents, 52 percent said that they enjoy going to these places because of the edible treats. Forty nine percent of the respondents said that they do enjoy the rides at the theme parks, so parents must set a reasonable budget for these.

Some of the kids would also like their pet dog (30 percent) or cat (14 percent) included in the family holiday. But nearly half (42 percent) would like to bring their gadgets and gaming consoles while on vacation as well. As for favorite travel companion, 30 percent of the younger kids said that their mom would be the best choice, while the older kids choose their best friend.

But here's the clincher that parents must never forget -- nearly half of the children hope that their moms and dads would actually spend time with them while on the family holiday.
