Stardust is an essential item in "Pokémon Go." You can use this to increase the CP and HP of your Pokémon. While Stardust remains one of the wanted items in "Pokémon Go" acquiring one is daunting because it cannot be purchased in the shop. You can only get a Stardust by doing the following per IGN.

Go out and catch Pokémon - "Pokémon Go" encourages their players to be active and you need to do this if you want to gain Stardust. By catching a Pokémon in "Pokémon Go" you will earn 100 Stardust and three Pokémon Candy, depending on the Pokémon you caught.

Hatch an Egg - Each time you hatch and egg in "Pokémon Go," you will be rewarded with Stardust, Pokémon Candy and XP. The number of Stardust depends on how long it took to hatch the egg.

Defend a Gym - One of the "Pokémon Go" challenges is defending a gym. When you reached level 5 in "Pokémon Go," you can join and lead the gym and defend the gym by placing Pokémon in the gym.

Then, go to the shop page and look for the shield icon in the top right, you will find in there the number of Pokémon you have in defending gyms and once every 21 hours, a "Pokémon Go" Defender Bonus will give you additional PokeCoins and Stardust.

Per iTech Post, if you stationed a Pokémon in Pokémon Gym, you are entitled to 500 Stardust and 10 PokeCoins. So, "Pokémon Go" layers who stationed three Pokémon on different gym location will get 1,500 Stardust and 30 PokeCoins upon the collections.

When you use this "Pokémon Go" trick, you have to station a strong Pokémon to defend your gym location or find "Pokémon Go" gym locations that are not easy to find in public. You will have high chances of collecting Stardust and PokeCoins in hidden gyms.
