'Teen Mom' OG Star Catelynn Lowell & Weight Loss: Fiancé Tyler Baltierra Says He's 'Just Being Honest'

Tyler Baltierra, the reality star from "Teen Mom OG," is on the defensive. After making comments about how Catelyn Lowell, his future wife, have gained a lot of weight, Baltierra took to social media to clarify his comments.

It all stemmed from the most recent episode of the MTV reality TV show, where Baltierra kept badgering Lowell about her weight gain. The young reality star admittedly packed some 60 pounds because of her pregnancy. While she lost 20 pounds of the pregnancy weight after giving birth to Novalee, according to Inquistr, Lowell apparently needed to lose more since her wedding to Baltierra is happening soon.

"Before Nova, Cate would never finish a plate," Baltierra said on the show. It was seen on the episode that he repeatedly steered conversations with her on how she should seriously start losing weight. However, his nagging appears to not be working because Lowell seems to want to do the opposite - just to spite him. "You're horrible! When you say things, that makes me not want to do it even more," the young mother shot back at her fiancé, clearly offended by his comments.

Baltierra defends, however, that he's only being supportive of Lowell. "Should I just let it happen and not say anything? If there's ways I can support you, I'll do it. I just need to know how to do it," he told her later in the episode, appearing to be more sensitive this time.

Although the parents of these young couple were able to patch things up when the episode ended, viewers of the show, however, remained unforgiving and made their feelings known on social media. This prompted Baltierra to post a clarification on his Twitter saying, "My intention is to never hurt @LowellnLowell I love her dearly & am just trying to support her through a sensitive subject #TeenMomOG"

He also added, "For real though! I'm just trying to support her by being honest. I just get too blunt sometimes!" He admits that he doesn't like to sugarcoat, or beat around the bush, and would prefer to "just say how we feel, so we can work through it together."

Baltierra also reminded the audience that not everything is shown on television. His conversation with Lowell actually took over an hour but on TV, the scenes were trimmed down to three minutes, as reported by US Magazine.

While people were attacking Baltierra on social media, Lowell remained quiet and only replied to her co-star, Amber Portwood, to acknowledge her support for her weight loss.
