Katie Holmes Talks about Parenting Her Daughter the Way Her Mother Did To Her

Being a single parent is not easy, and whenever overwhelmed with parenting, famous American actress Katie Holmes runs to her mom, Kathleen Holmes, for advice and guidance. "I try my best to embody her kindness and generosity and pass that on my own daughter," the actress uttered.

When asked by People how her mom affects her parenting decisions, she answered: "She's just so kind and has such a pure heart; she really leads with those two qualities, so I try to do the same. And my mom always said, 'No one loves you like your mother,'" she added.

Katie Holmes looks like a very sweet and grateful mother. Just recently, the actress took on her instagram many sweet and intimate pictures with her daughter taken at the surprise birthday party she gave to her mom.

Aside from being her constant buddy and mini-me, Holmes said that her daughter inspires her, too. She told Xpose: ''Being a parent also is a source of inspiration to just work really hard. You want to set an example - and, you know, [your kids] are what drives you.''

The parents of the actress have been very involved grandparents since the Cruise-Holmes split up in 2012. Just recently the mother and daughter Holmes was seen on some occasions. MailOnline noted that Katie took her mom Kathleen at the reopening of Cartier Mansion in New York. Both lovely ladies had a great night and even struck an elegant pose in their dashing clothing, the report continued.

Aside from that, the two were also seen together with Suri at NYC where they watched the show Finding Neverland on Broadway. After the musical show, the three posed with the cast.

When it comes to parenting, Holmes keeps her scheme simple: love your child. "I think the basics are very important: The No. 1 thing is making sure my child feels loved. And good about herself. And that what she does and who she is is special and should be celebrated," the actress told Elle U.K. 2014 issue.
