Xiaomi Mi 5s & 5s Plus News: Both Devices Are China-Exclusive? Specs, Price Points Inside

Xiaomi Mi 5s and Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus have been officially unveiled at the September 27 press event held by Xiaomi in China. Xiaomi revealed the specs and features of the Chinese-made smartphones which are suggested to bring a fair competition to Apple's iPhone 7. However, the impressive devices are suggested to be China-exclusive for the meantime which will come in four color options such as white, gold, rose gold and silver.

Both Xiaomi Mi 5s and Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus equip the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC. However, Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus is clocked faster at 2.35GHZ while Xiaomi Mi 5s is clocked at 2.15GHz. Xiaomi Mi 5s comes with a  3GB of RAM for the 64GB variant and 4GB RAM for the 128GB. Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus, on the other hand, comes with a 4GB of RAM for the 64GB model and 6GB RAM for the 128GB.

The rear camera of Xiaomi Mi 5s is at 12MP, similar to the iPhone 7's, while its front camera sports a 4MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 2-micron pixels, TechAwarness reported. However, Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus comes with rear dual lens camera. The dual lens camera system is at 13MP, one of which captures color snaps while the other takes monochrome to increase the sharpness of images.

The screen size of Xiaomi Mi 5s and Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus differ in size at 5.5-inch and 5.17-inch, respectively but both devices come with 1920 x 1080p screen display. Both devices also come with rear antenna lines and ultrasonic fingerprint sensors which allow users to rest their fingers on the button to avoid damaging the sensor, Gizchina reported.

Xiaomi Mi 5s and Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus are expected to be available for purchase in China on Sept. 29 but there are speculations that the device may possibly head to the United States as well. Xiaomi Mi 5s is suggested to sell at RMB 1,999 or $300 for the 64GB variant and  RMB 2,299 or $345 for the 128GB. The price points for Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus is currently set at RMB 2299 or $345 for the 64GB and RMB 2,599 or $390 for the 128GB.
