Ubisoft Confirmed No 'Assassin's Creed' And 'Far Cry' Sequel Next Year; New Games Are Currently In Development

Ubisoft's best titles seemed to be not appearing next year. There are reports that "Assassin's Creed" and "Far Cry" series will not come out until further announcement of new developments for their next installments.

"Assassin's Creed" was known to be a yearly engagement for all players and fans. Since 2009, Ubisoft has been releasing a new sequel every year for the "Assassin's Creed" series but not this year. According to Gamespot, this is the first year that Ubisoft didn't release a new game for "Assassin's Creed."

With this, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot cited that no players and fans should expect a new sequel next year. Aside from "Assassin's Creed," Ubisoft doesn't seem to have a plan for a new "Far Cry" sequel after the "Far Cry" Primal this year.

In an interview held by the IGN with the Ubisoft Editorial VP Tommy François, the next "Assassin's Creed" and "Far Cry" games need to take more time in order to add a fresh and interesting gameplay, storyline and game mechanics.

François added that the next "Assassin's Creed" and "Far Cry" sequels have to be more innovative and well polished. He even mentioned that Ubisoft won't deny that a new "Assassin's Creed" and "Far Cry" series are currently in development.

The only thing that is confirmed as of the moment is the release date of the "Assassin's Creed" Ezio Collection. The Ezio Collection will be console exclusive, Playstation 4 and Xbox one.

The "Assassin's Creed" Ezio Collection is likely to be a remastered version since it features improved graphics without the multiplayer mode. A DLC is also included along with the two "Assassin's Creed" animated short film entitled Embers and Lineage.

Lastly the latest Assassin's Creed product is the upcoming live-action film, which is set to release this December 21st. Michael Fassbender will be portraying the lead role as Callum Lynch and Aguilar de Nerha.
