Toddlers Kill People? New Advertisement From A Gun Control Group Makes Use Of Powerful Message In Campaign To Make America Safe Again

A new advertisement from a gun control group made use of a powerful phrase that says "Guns don't kill people, toddlers do" as they cited reports of accidental deaths because guns got into the hands of children. The minute-long YouTube video asks toddlers to be jailed and deported in an attempt to make America safe again.

The group that released the satirical YouTube video is the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, USA Today reports. The advertisement shows images of children in general holding firearms and audios from previous reports talking about children killing their parents or other people by accident.

As the video progresses, the narrator says that America has a real problem, which is Americans being shot by toddlers at least once a week. The narrator went on to say that these toddlers should be locked up and not the guns because if the weapons will be put away, it will be un-American.

Towards the end of the video, mug shots of children were shown and the narrator says, "The toddlers. Round them up. Deport them. Get them out of our country. And keep them away from our guns. Guns don't kill people; toddlers kill people. Keep America safe."

Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence President, Dan Gross, said that so much more can be done in order to keep irresponsible people from obtaining weapons. He noted that the trigger is indeed pulled by a toddler, but the problem in the United States is that guns fall easily into the wrong hands such as a convicted felon, a terrorist, or a domestic abuser.

Toddler-involved shootings have increased gradually and many fellow children die in accidental shootings. He added that for the first six months of 2016, minors have died from accidental shootings at their own hands, other children, or even adults, SF Gate reported. A Harvard study claims that 7 out of 10 children who lived in a home with a firearm are aware where the guns are stored and hidden.

There are numerous proposals in order to reduce the gun violence epidemic in the United States such as shutting down online gun sales, strengthening background checks and banning those on the watch list to purchase firearms. However, these proposals are met with strong criticism from pro-gun enthusiasts.
