Miley Cyrus is once again making headlines as she engages in an intense public display of affection with girlfriend Stella Maxwell in a parking lot. Heavily photographed by the paparazzi, the two appeared to be unperturbed by the clicks and flashes of the camera as they concentrate on each other, according to Us Weekly. While this kind of romantic relationship may have some heads shaking, the former Disney star could easily shrug off the disapproval as her own parents, Billy Ray and Trish Cyrus, support her choice of partner.
An insider exclusively revealed to Hollywood Life that both Cyrus' mom and dad "really like" Maxwell, an impression made when their daughter introduced her girlfriend. The source disclosed, "Miley brought Stella home to meet her family and they really like her." The insider added, "[Her dating girls is] something they've had to get used to. It's been an adjustment, but not a huge shock because Miley's always been so open. Her parents are both on board because they see how happy Stella is making her. They're happy that she's happy, and that's all that matters to them."
Earlier this year, Cyrus has been openly discussing her sexuality. Revealing that she dated women in the past, the "Wrecking Ball" star also shared that her mother knew of her bisexuality way before this was brought up by the media. "I remember telling her [Trish] I admire women in a different way," Cyrus said in her interview with Paper Magazine. Confused on her daughter's confession, Trish asked the pop star to clarify. Cyrus then explained, "I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys."
While it was initially difficult for her mother to come into terms with the revelation, Cyrus said that the fear emanated from Trish's desire to protect her daughter from the judgment of others and from the possibility of going to "hell" due to such lifestyle. However, her love for her child shone through her beliefs and subsequently led her to accept and support Cyrus. The Hannah Montana star said, "But she believes in me more than she believes in any God. I just asked for her to accept me. And she has."
As for Cyrus' girlfriend, Maxwell, The Telegraph reports that the latter is best known as a Victoria's Secret model. Apart from her gig at the widely renowned company, she also worked as a model for Alexander McQueen and the British version of Vogue. Maxwell and Cyrus first met via Instagram following the request of the pop star's friend, Cheyne Thomas, to have a photoshoot with the model. Upon their first meeting, the two said that they immediately felt a connection and the rest, as the public now knows, is history.
