Samsung's News & Update: Korean Tech Giant Releases Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB That Outperforms Its Predecessor 950 Pro!

An announcement during Samsung's annual SSD Global Summit was made that the new Samsung SSD 960 1TB Pro 1TB exceeds the performance of its predecessor, the 950 Pro. This puts the Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB as a must-have for users who require tons and tons of storage space.

According to Techspot, many of the technologies that make the Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB a stand-out appeared on the OEM channel earlier this year. This coincided when Samsung released their SM961 (MLC) and PM961 (TLC) drives.

It brings great improvement in terms of performance attributed to the PCIe 3.0 x 4 interface, NVMe protocol and the latest V-NAND memory. The Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB relies on Samsung's Polaris controller and third-generation 48-layer V-NAND. This is a definite improvement from 950 Pro.

The Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB comes in 512GB, 1TB and 2TB sizes which promise to perform at peak in terms of read and write transfer speeds of 3,500MB/s and 2,100MB/s. Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB also comes with random read and write IOPS of up to 440,000 and 360,000 respectively.

This is by far considered the best and fastest M.2 NVMe SSD according to Samsung. This puts Samsung on the map as the need for more storage greatly increases per individual on a daily basis.

The Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB is good for 800 terabytes written. This is also backed by a 5-year warranty.

As shared by Tom's Hardware, the Samsung SSD Pro 1TB retails at $629.99 US. This puts Samsung SSD Pro 1TB in the higher price range but considering the features and solid specifications, a serious buyer may not mind.

It is reported that in 2017, Samsung will begin the production of 64-layer die that doubles the density to 512GB. Samsung SSD Pro 1TB buyers will not be disappointed because it is also reported that many users are hoping for a revised series offering a lower price.
