Chicago Cubs World Series Champion: 1945 Billy Goat Curse Has Been Lifted as Cubs Beat Cleveland Indians 8-7

Nothing can compare to the news that the Chicago Cubs finally won the World Series after 108 long years. News broke Twitter as fans and World Series audience tweeted trolls and news regarding the Cubs’ major, surprising, win.

The Chicago Cubs secured the coveted title over the Cleveland Indians Wednesday during Game 7 with an 8-7 victory. Chicago's mayor, Rahm Emanuel, stated on a post on The Wall Street Journal that the Chicago Cubs' World Series win is more than just a game, even more than either a team or a sport. Chicago's win is about the families who have passed down their love for the Cubs from mothers and fathers to their sons and daughters and from grandparents to grandchildren.

According to The Guardian, the hero behind the Chicago Cubs' monumental World Series win and wrote History for the Cubs is Ben Zobrist. Due to his spectacular performance for the Cubs, Zobrist has been awarded the Most Valuable Player for the 2016 World Series. As a matter of fact, Chicago Cubs Zobrist hit the 10th inning double that locked Chicago's first win since 1908.

After almost a century's worth of being labelled as perennial losers, the Cubs finally broke free from the 1945 curse. The curse of the Billy goat marked the team to lose the World Series. Tavern owner William Sianis swore that the Cubs would lose the sport's biggest prize. This was after Sianis and his goat were thrown out of a game.

Meanwhile, Chicago Cubs' manager Joe Maddon is best known for his unofficial Cubs motto "Try Not To Suck." Maddon's questionable managerial decisions are no longer relevant as the Cubs are once again high and mighty.

The Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians 2016 World Series game is perhaps the greatest game in baseball history.
