Steven Seagal, Soon To Be The Honorary Consul Of Russia?

Steven Seagal's persistence has finally led into the decision by the Russian government to grant him a Russian citizenship, Thursday. The Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitry Rogozin congratulates the martial arts expert for officially becoming their compatriot, says The Telegraph.

Following this event, there have been a lot of speculations in the air about Seagal soon to be serving the Russian government. BBC News in their recent report mentioned about the proposal of Putin to make Seagal the honorary consul of Russia to the US. While we might question as to how this thing could possibly happen, what we're sure of is that we know very little about the closeness of Seagal and Putin.

Seagal and Putin have long been acquainted with each other. They've been very close that Steven even considers Vladimir Putin to be one the greatest leaders of this time. In an interview by one Russian newspaper, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Steven says Putin is a "brother" to him. This takes a lot of experiences together to have such kind of intimacy. The two also share the same interest since Seagal is a black belter in aikido while Putin also happens to have one in judo.

Seagal has long been visiting Russia since the nineties not only because he has a Russian heritage with her grandmother who was actually from Vladivostok, but also because he opened his own restaurant in Moscow. Since then, he has made a number of engagements in the country including promotional campaigns in a Russian Gun Manufacturer, ORSIS and even appearances in some Russian shows like the Estonian Music festival way back 2014 and one in Sevastopol Organized by one motorcycle club, Night Wolves.

Putting all of that in one note, we can clearly see the martial artist's warm feelings towards Russia. And their president is well aware of that. Hence, it is no longer impossible to think that one day, the star in "Under Seige" might just be serving Russia for good.

And Obama must have thought of that too.
