Brangelina Divorce: Brad Pitt Makes First Public Appearance Since Split From Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt has made his first public appearance on Monday night in Los Angeles weeks after it was announced that he and Angelina Jolie have called it quits.

The actor stepped out to co-host a private screening of "Moonlight" alongside his close friend, actress Julia Roberts, whom he worked with in "The Mexican," as well as the Ocean's franchise. The coming-of-age film, which has gained widespread positive reaction, was co-produced by Brad Pitt's production company Plan B and A24, according to USA Today.

Besides the private screening of "Moonlight," Brad Pitt was also scheduled to appear at a screening of "Allied" on Wednesday evening in the same city. The spy drama, which has a World War II setting, stars Pitt and French actress Marion Cotillard.

Both stars have steamy scenes together in the film. Many speculated that Marion Cotillard caused the Brangelina split, and the actress was quick to defend herself stressing that she had nothing to do with the former couple's marital troubles.

Brad Pitt's public outing comes a few days after he submitted his response to his former partner's divorce petition and request for sole custody of their six children: Maddox, 15; Pax, 12; Zahara, 11; Shiloh, 10; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.

It also comes less than two months after Brangelina officially separated. The actor at that time had to postpone his appearance at the premiere of "Voyage of Time" because he was "currently focused on (his) family situation," according to Entertainment Tonight Online.

The publication also learned that the couple communicated directly to discuss a new custody agreement, with Angelina Jolie's representative revealing that the children will stay in her care while continue to have "therapeutic visits" with their father. A source stressed that the custody agreement won't last long, but the allegations of child abuse against Brad Pitt are about to end.

"Moonlight" will hit theaters on Nov. 11, followed by "Allied" to be released on Nov. 23.
