Early Child Birth And Poor Child Development

In recent years, very useful modifications have been adopted by clinics and health centers. The outcome has been a significant increase in planned childbirths before the proper time (that is the gestation period of 39 to 40 weeks). The topic of early childbirth and poor child development has dramatically increased during the past decade. These are the result of various reasons.

The increased use of induction of labor and elective caesarean section is the leading contributing cause of it. Children in the study checked in five main areas of consideration: well-being and physical health, cognition, and language, emotional maturity, social competence, communication.

According to Baby Center, children labeled 'developmentally vulnerable' scored in the domain of bottom 10% and'developmentally high risk' were the children who were classified as 'vulnerable developmentally ' on more than or two domains.

The research gave results that with decreasing gestational age, the risk involved in being sensitive and prone to physical disabilities increased. The reason for an increase of because the body is not developed properly at the initial stage.

According to the Better Health Channel, with a gestational age of 40 weeks compared to children, the relative risk of being 'developmentally high risk' at 32-33 weeks was 25 percent higher, at 34 to 36 weeks it was 26 percent greater, at 37 weeks it was 17 percent higher, and at 38 weeks only six percent greater.

Compared to deliver born children after spontaneous labor normally, the estimated seven per cent the estimated risk of 'high risk developmentally ' for pre-labor labor induction. Due to the increase in adoption of modern means of delivery like caesarean, the number of healthy births before the time span of gestation period has increased.

With accounting of planned births, almost half of births before 39 to 40 weeks has resulted in a decrease in modal gestational age at a population level.
