Kraft Recall: 36,000 Cases Of Kraft Singles Recalled Over Possible Choking

Kraft is recalling its Kraft Singles cheese product because it might cause possible choking.

The voluntary recall has been issued on July 31, 2015, due to the fact that each Kraft Single individually wrapped slice is packaged with a thin strip of film, which "may remain adhered to the slice after the wrapper was removed." In a press release from the food company's news center, Kraft states that if the film sticks to the slice and is not removed, it can cause a choking hazard.

To date, the FDA reports that there have been 10 consumer complaints about the packaging to date, including three choking reports.

The recall applies to different packaging sizes, specifically 3-lb. and 4-lb. sizes of Kraft Singles American and White American Pasteurized cheese product. It only applies to those marked with a "Best When Used By" date of December 29, 2015 through January 4, 2016, followed by Manufacturing Code S54 and S55.

The S54 and S55 codes refer to the production lines wherein the product was made. The Best Used By Date and Manufacturing Code are found on both the 3-lb. and 4-lb. boxes, and the enclosed individual 1-lb. packages.

Other Kraft products and varieties, as well as the products that are marked with a different manufacturing code, are not included in the recall.

There have been an approximately 36,000 Kraft Singles cases shipped to retailers in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Grand Cayman. The product is not shipped to other territories.

Kraft warns the general consuming public not to eat the said food products, but, instead, return it to the store where it has been purchased for a full refund.

Kraft further announces, "We deeply regret this situation and apologize to any consumers we have disappointed."

Some time earlier during this year, Kraft has had another recalling incident, involving another product.

In March 17, 2015, Kraft Foods voluntarily recalled approximately 242,000 cases of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Dinners due to the possibility that some of the boxes may contain small metal pieces.

The recall  was limited to the 7.25-oz. size Original flavored dinner boxes with the "Best When Used By" dates from September 18, 2015 through October 11, 2015.

The code "C2" is to be seen directly below the date on each of the recalled product, in reference to a production line in which the product was made.

The recalled products were shipped to customers in the U.S. and several other countries, with the exception of Canada.
