Netflix's 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events' New Trailer Brings Lots Of Misfortunes And MORE

"A Series of Unfortunate Events" by Lemony Snicket began as a series of children's books back in 1999 and quickly became a best-seller. The popularity gained by the books prompted a film adaption to be made based on the first three titles in "A Series of Unfortunate Events" and just recently Netflix released its new TV series' trailer.

The film "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" was released in 2004. Despite the film's success, there was no sequel that immediately followed it. Since it has been more than a decade when "A Series of Unfortunate Events" film was shown, the kids portraying the Baudelaire siblings would now all be grown-up and too old to reprise their young roles for a sequel.

According to Bustle, Netflix's take on "A Series of Unfortunate Events" will bring audiences back to the dark, bleak, and depressing setting set by the book. The re-imagining of the series is reminiscent of the author's style of writing which somewhat seemed to discourage the reader from continuing and made the audience feel what the Baudelaire's were going through.

Development for "A Series of Unfortunate Events" series began in November 2014. The series will have a total of 8 episodes, with each book of the series spanning two episodes.

Netflix's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" will have an all new cast, some new names and some veteran actors will be taking part in the new series. Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes will play as the Baudelaire siblings.

Joan Cusack will play as Justice Strauss. Neil Patrick Harris will play the role of the eccentric Count Olaf, the role that was originally played by Jim Carrey in the 2004 film adaption. "A Series of Unfortunate Events" is slated to be released worldwide on Netflix on January 13, 2017.
