‘Pokémon Sun’ And ‘Moon’ Guide: The 5 Best New Abilities! Secret Pokémon Evolution Requirements Revealed

"Pokémon Sun" and "Moon" recently rolled out and introduced lots of new abilities and special requirements. Here's what trainers need to know above all else.

Beast Boost, Schooling, Elemental Surge, Queen Majesty/Dazzling, and Water Bubble are some of the best new Pokémon abilities that "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon" introduced, International Business Times listed. Ultra Beasts use the Beast Boost, an ability that raises a stat when the opposing Pokémon gets knocked out. The increased stat is based on the Ultra Beast's stats.

Schooling in "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon" can only be learned by the fishlike Pokémon Wishiwashi. With the Schooling ability, Wishiwashi becomes a whale-like monster with high stats. However, Wishiwashi returns to its normal form when its health dips.

The Elemental Surge abilities of Tapus (Bulu, Lele, and Fini) are among the most notable skills in "Pokémon Sun" and Moon. Once the Tapus hits the battlefield, it can display four terrains (Electric, Misty, Grassy or Psychic) that can greatly assist in Double Battles and help the Pokémon's chances in winning that the Tapu is currently paired with. The Tapus' terrain effects contribute to its power, too.

Bruxish/Tsareena's Queen Majesty/Dazzling has also earned great recognition in "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon." These abilities protect the Pokémon against Priority moves, flinching, or outspeeding. These skills are best used in Double Battles where moves such as Fake Out and Sucker Punch are prominent.

Araquanid's unique Water Bubble ability is also praised in "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon." This skill lowers the impact of Fire-type attacks and increases the damage of Araquanid's Water-type attacks. In Double Battles, Araquanid can use its Entrainment attack so it can share its unique abilities to its companion.

Trainers already know that evolving Pokémon requires reaching appropriate levels but the Alolan monsters in "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon" come with special requirements that the games don't disclose. For instance, Rattata evolves into (Alola) Raticate at level 20 during nighttime and Pikachu evolves into (Alola) Raichu with a Thunder Stone that can be bought on Akala Island. To evolve Charjabug into Vikavolt, trainers must level the creature up in Vast Poni Canyon, Kotaku reported.

High happiness is needed for Meowth to evolve into (Alola) Persian. To raise happiness in "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon," trainers need to win battles, give Pokémon massages in Konikoni City, and feeding vitamins to the monsters. For Meowth to have high happiness, players have to use a luxury ball to catch it or give a Soothe Bell to the Pokémon. Check out Kotaku's report for more info about secret evolution requirements.
