'I'm Forced To Parent My Daughter With My Rapist': Rape Victim Forced To Co-Parent With Her Rapist

A rape victim who was raped five years ago is now being forced to co-parent her child with her rapist. In 2011, Noemi,18, has been violated by her co-worker and bore a child. Today, Nebraska's laws force her to agree on court-endorsed scheduled visits between her rather accidental child and the man who raped her.

"Now I have to text my rapist or email my rapist, to leave my daughter with someone I don't trust," CNN quoted Noemi. I'm forced to parent with him and to see him on a weekly basis," she added

Five years ago, Noemi, who does not want to reveal her last name for her daughter's protection, was invited to a house of her co-worker. During that time, she was an ordinary and immature high school student, having a part-time work at Nebraska. Being immature, Noemi had no idea about sex and her co-worker take advantage of that.

Noemi recalled that her co-worker raped her during that night. After the awful assault, she discovered that she was pregnant with the child of her rapist. Unhappy with the discovery, she considered having an abortion but later on realized it was not the fault of the child that she was born in violence. She said that after she went to the doctor and heard the heartbeat of the child, she had a hard time to say no.

Noemi's rapist was accused of first-degree sexual assault but pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual assault. Under the state law of Nebraska, this means the rapist of Noemi has to stick to his parental rights.

Five months later after the daughter of Noemi was conceived, her attacker started demanding visitation rights with his daughter, and there was nothing she could do about it. Today, she shares the custody of her child with her rapist, handing over her daughter every two Tuesdays and every other weekend per month.

However, the fight is not yet over for Noemi. According to Mommy Page, Noemi will be testifying before lawmakers of Nebraska next year with the hope of passing legislation which would protect mothers like her from being forced to co-parent their kids with their rapists.
