Day-care owner hangs toddler then goes on a rampage

What would it take for a a day-care owner to hang a toddler right in front of her home and then go on a rampage all over Minneapolis taking the police force on a goose chase? This is the 24-dollar question in the mind of those who have heard of this incident which went viral not so much for the adventure it carried but because it was an eye-opener for parents who regularly leave their children with day-care centers.

Washington Post mentioned that a 42-year old Nataliia Karia who is the owner of Uptown Daycare, will be charged for the crime. She is still however confined in the hospital for some treatment which was not revealed yet.

"It's horrific, horrific," Minneapolis Deputy Police Chief Kris Arneson said. "We never want children to be injured; that's part of the reason we call in our chaplains. It's a horrific scene for officers to encounter, and the victims in this case have injuries based on her actions," he added. The Minneapolis said the car chase took them around 36 blocks in a matter of 25 minutes.

A parent who dropped off her child in the day-care found the toddler still dangling and immediately rescued him. The day-care owner was not however near the vicinity as she has already fled onboard a mini van and caused injuries to other people before the police got her.

Uptown Daycare in its Facebook page, Karia indicated that she is college-educated, CPR-trained, and is a licensed provider of child care. She advertised the opening in her home-based day-care center which has a large yard with a fence and considered safe for children.

In a recording of a 911 call made by the woman who found the child, the child could still be heard crying said Chicago Tribune. After the call, people have started calling the police to report a gold minivan going on a rampage and hitting a man a few blocks away from the day-care. The man was dragged by the minivan and some of his bones got broken along the way. Other people were also reported injured by the minivan.
