Minneapolis Daycare Operator Admits Hanging Toddler Because She Can’t Take It Anymore

A Minneapolis woman tried to hang a toddler under her care in the daycare that she was operating. The child was able to survive and more details have emerged regarding the motive of the woman.

The woman is identified as 42-year-old Nataliia Karia. She is the operator of the child care called Uptown Daycare. The child, who's not identified, is only 16 months old.

The child was reportedly found dangling by another parent who subsequently called 911. That parent was supposed to drop her own child but discovered the crime, Electronic Urban Report shared.

Karia was able to get out of the home before authorities came. However, she was apprehended later. During her attempt to flee from the authorities, she injured two more people in the process. One was a pedestrian, whom she dragged for a few blocks from where he was hit by her van, and the other was a bicyclist.

Before she was apprehended, Karia was found near a bridge attempting to jump to her death. Passersby held her down before authorities took her in.

According to Star Tribune, the daycare owner told a witness that she could not take it anymore that is why she hanged the 16-month-old toddler in the basement of her home. Karia used two pairs of children's tights that were connected to make a noose.

The parent who saw the child described the toddler with ligature marks around his neck and his face was discolored. The toddler was taken to the pediatric intensive care unit at the Hennepin County Medical Center.

The child is now doing better. Karia, on the other hand, remains at the Hennepin County Medical Center. It is unclear why Karia is at the hospital as no injuries on her were stated.

Meanwhile, Karia has been charged with second-degree attempted murder, third-degree assault of a minor under the age of four years old, and two counts of criminal vehicular operation. She has not made her initial appearance in court yet.
